The film depicts a world under attack by creatures who hunt by sound. Shipka plays a deaf teenager who seeks shelter with her family, and a cult tries to take advantage of her fertility. [1] Netflix released The Silence on April 10, 2019. It was also released in theaters in seven countries in the rest of 2019, grossing $2.3 million.
In the US the film was released as The Story of Mandy, [1] and later was sold to television as Crash of Silence. [ 2 ] A high proportion of the film looks at educational methods for deaf people in the 1950s and focuses on oralism , a now controversial approach which relies on teaching the child to speak and lipread and discourages sign language.
