Clarion is located 8 miles (13 km) East of Goldfield on Highway 3. At that time Goldfield students in grades 9–12 attended Clarion High School during the morning and returned to Goldfield later for a class and extracurricular activities. In 1986 middle school students joined the high school students in Clarion.
The Wright County Courthouse in Clarion, Iowa, United States was built in 1892. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource.
