Decided to see what the highest rated omnibus were between the big two. So I started to make a list and here we are with the top 100. Definitely some surprises in there, others not so much. Let me know if I missed any 4.72 - The Sandman Vol. 2 4.65 - The Sandman Vol. 1 4.63 - Gotham Central 4.62 - The Sandman Vol. 3
DC/Marvel: The Amalgam Age does have a central story, with the two universes coming into conflict and merging, but the bulk of it is one-shots that take place in the merged reality, which are only lightly tied into that central story. The reason you might want to buy these books isn't story so much as it's novelty.
GhostFox23. •. Either Uncanny X-Force by Remender or Hawkeye by Fraction. Uncanny X-Force is my favorite team, book of all time, and has an excellent lineup, including Wolverine, Deadpool, Fantomex, and Psylocke. So there was a time when Epic’s were extremely easy to recommend as an affordable way to collect classic Marvel titles to completion in paperback. That’s becoming a harder sell due to the price. Especially when DC, Image, and Dark Horse all release paperbacks of a similar page count for $29.99. It makes a $50 <500 page Marvel trade look dumb.
