Ivy-Plus admissions rates vary with the income of the students' parents, with the acceptance rate of the top 0.1% income percentile being almost twice as much as other students. [234] While many "elite" colleges intend to improve socioeconomic diversity by admitting poorer students, they may have economic incentives not to do so.
Typically, as colleges receive a rising number of applications, their acceptance rate plummets. And this is not just at the Ivy League schools which host single-digit acceptance rates.
