Rowley Regis (/ ˈ r aʊ l i ˈ r iː dʒ ɪ s / ROW-lee REE-jis) is a town and former municipal borough in Sandwell in the county of the West Midlands, England.It forms part of the area immediately west of Birmingham known as the Black Country and encompasses the three Sandwell council wards of Blackheath, Cradley Heath and Old Hill, and Rowley. Turners Hill is the highest hill in the county of West Midlands, England at 271 metres (889 ft) above sea level. [1] The hill is in the Rowley Hills range, situated in Rowley Regis, near the boundary with Dudley.
The reserve, an area of grassland, was acquired as part of the Wildlife Trust's appeal to protect the Rowley Hills. [1] Wild flowers in the grassland include rare species such as bee orchid and hare's-foot clover. Butterflies on the reserve include one of the few colonies of marbled white butterfly in the West Midlands. [1]
