Four tracks will serve the AERA1 City and the Don Mueang–Suvarnabhumi–U-Tapao high-speed railway linking Don Mueang International Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport and U-Tapao International Airport. Six tracks are reserved for future high-speed rail (HSR) connections to Nong Khai, Padang Besar, Thailand and Chiang Mai.
Each train set has a capacity of 210 passengers, and upon calculation, the route can handle 3590 passengers per hour one way. It has a maximum speed of 80 km/h. [2] The train uses the automated TrainGuard MT Communicated Based Control System (CBTC) for signalling. [3] The first train set arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 15 July 2020. [4]
Suvarnabhumi Station (Thai: สถานีสุวรรณภูมิ, RTGS: Sathani Suwannaphum) is a rapid transit station on the Airport Rail Link. It serves the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, and is integrated with the passenger terminal. The station was opened in August 2010.
It is located opposite of Don Mueang International Airport. It currently serves the SRT Dark Red Line and long-distance intercity trains on the Northern and Northeastern Line of the State Railway of Thailand. There is a pedestrian bridge directly linking the new station to the airport.
Contract 1 of the project was for the construction of a new, 4 level Intercity Terminal to cater for all SRT Intercity Trains, SRT Red Line suburban trains and the yet to be built Airport Rail Link (Bangkok) extension. The delayed contract process was finally signed in January 2013. [21]
