Elk Falls Mill was a pulp mill and paper mill located in the Canadian town of Campbell River, British Columbia, operating between 1952 and 2010.At the end of its life, the mill had three paper machines, with a combined annual production of 373,000 tonnes of newsprint and 153,000 tonnes specialized papers.
Elk Falls Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It is 1,807 hectares (4,470 acres) in size and is located at the east end of John Hart Lake on the northwest side of the city of Campbell River, on Vancouver Island. [1] The Park was established in 1940 to protect the waterfall and canyon.
After the Second World War, Campbell River became a boomtown and industrial centre with the building of the John Hart Dam, the Elk Falls Mill, and nearby mills in Tahsis and Gold River. Logging and mining in the area prospered. There is a lead zinc mine nearby as well as coal mines, while a large copper mine operated to the north.
