The University of Salford is a public research university in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) west of Manchester city centre.The Royal Technical Institute, Salford, which opened in 1896, became a College of Advanced Technology in 1956 and gained university status in 1967, following the Robbins Report into higher education.
Originally the home for Salford Royal Technical Institute it was opened by the then Duke and Duchess of York (latterly George V and Queen Mary) in 1896.The building was renamed Peel Building in 1967 as the Royal College of Advanced Technology (as it had evolved into) was granted university status.
The university has held a link for Physiotherapy with the Professional Footballers' Association since 1991. [4] As of 2007 over 70 former professional footballers have graduated from Salford. In 2009 the PFA reported that they had 33 members undertaking the programme at the university.
Salford Business School is located 3 km west of Manchester city centre in the Maxwell Building on the Peel Park Campus of the University of Salford. The Centenary Building is a building at the University of Salford in Greater Manchester, England. It was designed by the architect Stephen Hodder , completed in December 1995, and opened in 1996 . The building won the RIBA Award and inaugural Stirling Prize in 1996, [ 1 ] as well as the Civic Trust Award in 1998.
