Hela is a province of Papua New Guinea. The provincial capital is Tari. [2] The province covers an area of 10,498 km 2, [3] and there are 249,449 inhabitants (2011 census figures). [4] Hela province officially came into being on 17 May 2012, [5] comprising three districts previously part of Southern Highlands Province.

Tari is the capital of the Tari-Pori District and is the centre of Huli country in the Hela Province of Papua New Guinea. It is the second largest settlement in the province, and accessible by road from Mendi. The town is administered under Tari Urban LLG.
