The airport is named for Lt. Col. Austin Straubel, the first aviator from Brown County to die in his country's service, on February 3, 1942, after having served for thirteen years in the United States Army Air Corps. The airport name was officially changed to Green Bay–Austin Straubel International Airport on August 17, 2016. [5] [6]
Door County Cherryland Airport covers an area of 436 acres (176 ha) at an elevation of 724 feet (221 m) above mean sea level.It has two asphalt paved runways: the primary runway 2/20 is 4,599 by 75 feet (1,402 x 23 m) and the crosswind runway 10/28 is 3,199 by 75 feet (975 x 23 m), all having approved GPS approaches.
The airport was founded in 1941 by Carlyle Godske on roughly 160 acres (65 ha) of land purchased from local businessman J.A. Horlick. For most of its history, the airport was known as Racine-Horlick Field, but on September 5, 1989, the name was changed to John H. Batten Field.
John F. Kennedy Memorial Airport covers an area of 511 acres (207 ha) at an elevation of 827 feet (252 m) above mean sea level.It has two runways with asphalt surfaces: the primary runway 2/20 is 5,197 by 100 feet (1,584 x 30 m) with approved LOC and GPS approaches and the crosswind runway 13/31 is 3,498 by 75 feet (1,066 x 23 m) with approved GPS approaches.
