Simple file links should be made with wikitext markup directly, as it uses less resources than this template. For help with wikitext file markup please refer to the documentation at mediawiki.org . Usage
Most protected templates already have a sandbox subpage and testcases subpage. The names of these pages are default. At the bottom of each template's page are links to create/edit the template's sandbox and testcases pages. For example, here are the subpages for {{FlagIOCmedalist}}:
Main page; Contents; Current events; Random article; About Wikipedia; Contact us
Main page; Contents; Current events; Random article; About Wikipedia; Contact us
To get there, type "Template:foo" in the search box (see search), or make a wikilink like [[Template:foo]] somewhere, such as in the sandbox, and click on it. Once you are there, just click "edit" or "edit this page" at the very top of the page (not the documentation edit button lower down) and edit it in the same way that you would any other page.
The /doc, /sandbox and /testcases pages should normally be in the subject namespace, except in the namespaces that do not have the MediaWiki subpage feature enabled: Main, File, and MediaWiki. (Categories can have subpages, but documentation is created in the Category talk namespace to prevent creating empty categories.
This template makes a link in a box to a page on MediaWiki.org. Pages on MediaWiki.org include message documentations, instructions for installing extensions, and manual pages. The above documentation is transcluded from Template:MediaWiki/doc .
To start a new page in your namespace, enter "Special:Mypage/" followed by the page name you wish to create into the search box (or create such a link in a location such as the general sandbox). For example, to create a home for the prototype "Infobox_mysubject" in your user space, you would search: Special:Mypage/Infobox mysubject .
