Ackermans began in 1916 when Gus Ackerman opened the very first store in Wynberg, Cape Town, South Africa. [6] In 1960, Ackermans was sold to Greatermans. [7] in 1970, Ackermans was sold to Edgars who maintained its successful price discounter position. [8] In 1984, Pepkor acquired Ackermans. At the time, there were 34 stores across the country.

This is a list of ambassadors of the United States to Thailand. Thailand has had continuous bilateral relations with the United States since 1882. Relations were interrupted during World War II when Bangkok was occupied by Japanese forces. Normal relations were resumed after the war in 1945.
Stanislaus Thomas Maria (Stan) Ackermans (1936 – 1995) was a Dutch mathematician, and the seventh rector magnificus of the Eindhoven University of Technology. He was also one of the founders, the namesake and the first director of the Stan Ackermans Instituut .
