The club was established in 1991 as the Tacoma Rockets, playing in Tacoma, Washington. [1] The team played four seasons in Tacoma under head coach Marcel Comeau, who was named the league and the Canadian Hockey League's coach-of-the-year for 1992–93, although the team won only one playoff round. The 2026 Memorial Cup is a four-team round-robin format ice hockey tournament to be held at Prospera Place, home of the host Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets. It is the 106th Memorial Cup championship which determines the champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL).
Prospera Place, formerly known as Skyreach Place, is a 6,886-seat multi-purpose arena, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. It replaced Kelowna Memorial Arena, which is still in use for minor hockey. Opened in 1999, it is home to the Kelowna Rockets hockey club. The arena hosted the Memorial Cup in 2004.

The 2013–14 WHL season was the 48th season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The regular season began on September 19, 2013, and ended on March 16, 2014. The Kelowna Rockets won their third Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy for best regular season regular, their first since 2003–04.
After retiring as a player in 2009, Lambert joined the Kelowna Rockets organization, first as an assistant coach and then as the head coach. As head coach, he led the Rockets to a runner-up finish at the 2015 Memorial Cup. He also served as one of Canada's three head coaches for the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. [1]
The 2002–03 WHL season was the 37th season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Nineteen teams completed a 72-game season. The Kelowna Rockets won both the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the league's best regular season team and the President's Cup as playoff champion, both for the first time.
