Villa College Lakeside Campus (VCLC) is located in Shaviyani Funadhoo at a very picturesque location. The campus is surrounded by a beautiful lake with several domesticated animals across the lake. These private schools no longer exist, as western style schools replaced them in the 1980s-1990s. The first western-style school in the Maldives is Majeediyya School, a secondary established in 1927. [2] The school was originally co-educational, but it was felt necessary to create a second school for girls (Aminiya School) in 1944. [3]
It is a public school under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Education which provides preschool, primary, secondary and higher secondary education. There are 455 students currently studying in the school. In addition, an outreach center under the Faculty of Open Learning of Maldives National University was recently established in the island.
