The 2024–25 RFU Championship is the sixteenth season of the RFU Championship, the professional second tier of rugby union in England. It features twelve English teams. Ealing Trailfinders are the reigning champions, having been refused promotion to the Premiership due to failing to meet minimum standards.
The first step was to reduce the Championship from 14 clubs to 13 at the end of the 2024 season. This was achieved by the bottom two clubs being relegated to League 1 but only the League 1 champions being promoted. The team finishing third-bottom in 2024 played the team winning the League 1 play-offs for the 13th spot in the 2025 Championship. [5]

The fixture list for the 2024 RFL Championship was issued on 3 December 2023. [1] The regular season comprised 26 rounds to be followed by the play-offs. All times, including matches played in France, are UK local time ( UTC±00:00 until 31 March 2024, UTC+01:00 thereafter).
The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). [4] The current competition format is a double round-robin tournament, where teams play each other home and away. The 2022–23 season had no playoff phase, and no team was promoted to the Premiership as Jersey Reds did not meet the minimum standards criteria.
The 2024–25 Premiership Rugby is the 38th season of the top flight of English domestic rugby union competition. The season began on 20 September 2024 and will finish on 14 June 2025.
