William Reibert Mapother Jr. [1] (/ ˈ m eɪ p ɒ θ ər /; born April 17, 1965) is an American actor, known for his role as Ethan Rom on the television series Lost and starring in the film In the Bedroom. He is also known for the film Another Earth.
After the organization is purged by the Others, Ethan joins the latter group. When Flight 815 crashes on the island, he poses as a fuselage survivor until he is exposed by Hurley, at which point he abducts Claire and Charlie, unsuccessfully attempting to murder the latter. Claire is rescued, and Charlie then kills Ethan in "Homecoming".
