Deepa Fernandes is one of the hosts of NPR's Here and Now. She has formerly hosted the WBAI radio program Wakeup Call and the nationally syndicated Pacifica radio news show Free Speech Radio News on the politically independent, anti-war Pacifica Radio Network.
On July 1, 2013, Here and Now began broadcasting as a two-hour program with a "full rollover" (meaning the show broadcasts from noon to 4 p.m. ET) airing Monday to Friday [2] and generally in the midday hours on its affiliate stations. The show covers U.S. and international news, and provides arts and culture coverage.
Young has hosted Here and Now since 2000. The show normally consists of five interview segments with reporters, politicians, artists, authors and experts on a given subject. It is broadcast from noon to 2 pm on WBUR and is distributed by NPR. In July 2013, Here and Now expanded to two hours. The show is produced at WBUR in Boston.
