(WOWK) — Legendary news anchor Jack Kane passed away Tuesday night, October 8, 2024. He was 77 years old. Kane was with WOWK-TV from 1999 to 2020. Before coming to WOWK, he was a reporter and anchor for WCHS-TV and an evening news anchor for WTAP-TV in Parkersburg.
Jack Kane (WOWK-TV) Kane, 77, suffered a stroke late last week. He died at Myrtle Beach where he moved after he retired four years ago.
In 1986 Smith moved to WSAZ-TV as co-anchor of the evening news and, later, as news director. He retired from WSAZ-TV in 1996. In 2009 Smith was hired as Director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, expanding its membership and introducing social events.
