Genesis is definitely gunning for BMW and Audi market share. The whole move from Hyundai to Genesis was to improve brand image. I would definitely argue the wings look a lot cooler than the older Genesis models with the Hyundai logo. And for the shoppers that buy German for the features, pricing is hard to beat.
Luxury badge/brand (how much the Genesis brand is worth is debatable but I’d still rank it above Mazda), RWD sport sedan platform (yeah we know the target market probably doesn’t care), probably better fit and finish and creature comforts. Also, a big whallop more power. The 4cyl produces 300hp, the six 370.
Overall, I think Genesis is better as an overall luxury car than Lexus because their fit and finish is better, they're more solid, and their tech is a lot better. I think it all just comes down to personal preference. And not to mention Genesis doesn't really offer any competition to the Lexus F sport line of stuff.
The only thing I can't determine is the quality and reliability of Genesis products. I understand that this is a Genesis sub and that bias will exist, but I'd love to hear your honest and objective (as much as possible) thoughts on Lexus vs. Genesis. Thanks in advance - looking forward to hearing from the Genesis community.
That superb chassis balance and the stunning 22-inch wheels on this loaded tester also contribute to a ride that has more impact harshness than you might expect in a luxury SUV. Wheel motions are well-controlled over wobbly pavement, but potholes come with a big bite as the thin sidewalls cave.
I feel like that's a problem with a lot of the 'trying to be compact' SUV offerings from luxury brands. Lexus RX, acura RDX, cadillac small thing, audi Q3, etc. They're all just really fancy versions of the cheapest SUV available to the lead brand.
I’ve been interested in a Genesis SUV for the past few months. Initially I wanted the GV80, but when playing around online and building one I quickly realized you get more bang for buck with the GV70. I became obsessed with the 3.5 sports advanced. I went to the dealership this past weekend and finally laid my eyes on one.
The GV60 is a smaller, electric performance SUV with a decent interior compared to other EVs but not on par with a G90 or anything like that. The GV70 is a luxury gas SUV that's a good size and pretty sporty, though its interior design is very different than other Genesis vehicles (and there's an electric version too)
Unfortunately I don't have an answer to offer but I am also very curious about this. I think Genesis is going through such a dramatic change (in every single way - corporate identity, build quality, competitive advantage, etc.) that you can't get an accurate picture of Genesis reliability or resale value by looking at 3-6 year old models.
Ends up, they are backordered, something about an issue between Genesis and Interstate Battery? It's been 3 weeks now and no word on an eta for new battery. I've been reading on Reddit that these are custom batteries and can't really be substituted. Any suggestions? What should I do, just wait? They did give me a loaner, but I miss my suv.
