I know this post is old as hell lol but I recently started dabbling around again with the Hearthfire Homes (first time in like 6 years or something like that) after not finding a single house mod I liked. I've come to love Heljarchen Hall. I like snow and snowy environments (this one isn't pure snow but it's close).
Here are my set-ups: Windstad Manor: Kitchen, Storage, Bedrooms. My family house. Everything I need to keep my wife, my two children, my steward, my bard and my housecarl all happy and well-fed.
I like the giants and the snow as it gives a really strong skyrim feel. That said, i fully admit lakeview is by far the most beautiful, no contest. Also, my thing with the morthal house is that I love buying it and making a wizard follower my steward, and filling it with wizardy stuff like the library and the greenhouse.
Total Materials List for Hearthfire Homesteads. Since no one else has seemingly done it, I've taken it upon myself to provide a full materials list for Hearthfire houses; this does not separate between different sections of a house, it only shows the maximum amount of materials needed to produce everything, according to several assumptions.

A tip: When you download and install it, play skyrim for a bit (EG, get to be a thane in your city of choice) then leave the city, save, restart your xbox, and go back to try and buy your house (once you have all the requirements fulfilled.) The reason for this is that xbox users (among myself) are finding they can't purchase a house.
So, lakeview Manor. As an example.. Has an invisible boundary between the area and the open roads of "Skyrim" before you reach another location. Everytime you exit and enter this zone, the game ticks values based on resource replenishment, enemy spawn chance, the necromancer at the back of the house, hawks and the apiary.
The store lists the special and anniversary edition separately and lists Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn as part of the Anniversary Edition and not the Special Edition. Nowhere on PlayStation’s Skyrim page does it mention that those three are included in the Special Edition but they’re clearly listed as part of the Anniversary Edition.
The different sheets contain a few disclaimers to clear up any potential confusion I could think of. Running mods that add new features to the Hearthfire homes will mess up the accuracy for example. As will playing an version of Skyrim that doesn't have the features added alongside Fishing. I recommend you make a copy of the Spreadsheet for ...
What are your favorite Hearthfire house wings? I'm in the process of buildibg my house, and I'm not sure which wings are the most useful. I wanted to build the enchanting tower, but it turns out that the main hall already has an enchanting table, so building the tower almost seems redundant.
