I wrote 10 or so drafts of my personal statement. I highly recommend “Your Essential Guide to Dental School Admissions: 30 Successful Application Essays and Collective Wisdom from Young Dentists”. Edited my Dr. Helen Yang, DMD. This book helped me so much to learn the structure of a personal statement.
Anything other then charming and professional is a terrible idea. The dental school is trying to get a sense of who you are, act like a first date, present your best self. 2) Dress Appropriately-Guys, especially from the west coast, have a reputation of underdressing to interviews. Wear a suit. Sport coat and nice t-shirt is bad form.
Actions such as this can transcend time and space to make the difference between an acceptance and a deferment. Not only is it the polite thing to do, but it can speak volumes as to how you'll potentially interact with your fellow classmates in dental school: whether you'll go through dental school alone or amongst friends.
