I think keeping heat in the suppressor is a terrible idea, and so does Magpul. Their suppressor cover has a space between the insulator and the suppressor tube to let the heat out. When I lean my rifle against my truck after shooting it, it acts like a chimney and pulls cool air from the bottom up the sides of the suppressor.
COLE TAC MAKES THE WORST SUPPRESSOR COVER PERIOD!!!!! who the fuck thought it was a good idea to add Velcro to a cover that gets 10x hotter than its flash point? You can go on reddit and see the other day a guy learning the hard way using a htp cover after a 50 rnd mag dump...

I have both Rifles Only MAD, and an Armageddon tactical (similar to TAB's design). I personally like the Rifles Only because it is more durable, can handle more heat, and the outer cover is user replaceable. My Armageddon Tactical cover is for my 338BA suppressor.
I picked up 2 awhile back when they were on some buy 1 get 1 sale I think. Also got a couple of basically oven mits for handling a warm suppressor. The bags are good size and can slide right over the end of the rifle. They have a suppressor cover with a lot of negative reviews but the transport bag seems decent.
My Armageddon Gear cover (purchased around 2012) does not stay put at all. Even on a bolt gun. They might have a better design, though. The Rifles Only HAD cover is very nice and stays in position OK. My favorite cover is from Rauch Precision. It stays in position great and withstands multiple mags worth of semi auto fire.
Of those two, I found Cole-Tac to be far superior. Easier to take on and off, I like the Cole-Tac velcro far more than the bungee type on the Armageddon. The Cole-Tac doesn't slide from recoil as much and is much better made IMHO. YMMV Armageddon Gear on far right, SilencerCo 2nd from right, all others Cole-Tac.
I don't think a cover is useful only for installing/removing a silencer. A glove, oven mitt, etc will work but you still have to wait a few mins for it to cool down. But a cover insulates the can keeping it hotter, for longer. You'll melt an inexpensive one, and no sense paying $300 for a fireproof one, IMO. Extra weight.
Liberty's Defense is the only suppressor cover I have never been able to burn down and I have used cole-tac, BPG, and Armageddon and none hold up like the Liberty's Defense covers. Posted: 7/4/2023 11:35:24 PM EDT
The inner cover stuck to my specwar and discolored it leaving the mesh pattern behind. That didn’t really bother me as much as the fact that it repeatedly slid out of place. Anyway, I got rid of that cover and got the Magpul cover. It stays incredibly cool but it’s a chonky cover at 2.5” diameter and 9oz.
