Sângeorz-Băi (also spelled Sîngeorz-Băi, Romanian pronunciation: [sɨnˈd͡ʒe̯orz bəj]; Hungarian: Oláhszentgyörgy; German: Sankt Georgen) is a spa resort and town in the mountain region of Bistrița-Năsăud County in Transylvania, Romania. The town administers two villages, Cormaia (Kormája) and Valea Borcutului (Borpatak).
With a population of 1,372 (as of 2021), it is the smallest town in Romania by population. It is located at an altitude of 650 m (2,130 ft) in the southern reaches of the Ciuc depression, between the Harghita and Bodoc mountains, in the valley of the Olt River , and is to this day an important spa town.
The only fact agreed by all experts is the appearance of the first buildings in this resort: between the years 1711–1721. In 1920, the commune became part of Romania, in 1940, it was given back to Hungary. After World War II, it became part of Romania again. In 1948 Sanmartin monastery area was nationalized by the communist authorities.
