Definitions vary on when a roof is considered pitched. In degrees, 10° (2 in 12 or 1 in 6) is considered by at least one reference a minimum. [5] In trigonometric expression, exact roof slope in degrees is given by the arctangent. For example: arctan(3 ⁄ 12) = 14.0°. Framing carpenters cut rafters on an angle to "pitch" a

A flat roof is a roof which is almost level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch and flat roofs have up to approximately 10°. [1] Flat roofs are an ancient form mostly used in arid climates and allow the roof space to be used as a living space or a living roof. Flat roofs, or "low ...
Slope illustrated for y = (3/2)x − 1.Click on to enlarge Slope of a line in coordinates system, from f(x) = −12x + 2 to f(x) = 12x + 2. The slope of a line in the plane containing the x and y axes is generally represented by the letter m, [5] and is defined as the change in the y coordinate divided by the corresponding change in the x coordinate, between two distinct points on the line.

I agree that there should be a single 'pitched roof' article. 'Roof pitch' is simply the angle or slope of a pitched roof. This (roof pitch) article also appears to be US-centric. In the UK construction industry and Building Regulations, roof pitch is quoted in degrees. 80.176.88.21 12:08, 29 March 2013 (UTC) Also agree with merge.
