Central Middle School remains a landmark in downtown and closed as a middle school after the 2014-2015 school year. When Plymouth opened it only let in Freshmen, and the next year Freshmen and Sophomores, etc. Originally planned to simply remain Plymouth High School, the school's name was changed to Plymouth-Salem High School after Canton opened.
