The College of Health and Human Performance is made up of eight academic units and handles all of the recreational and exercise degrees at East Carolina University. It took on its name in 2003, but traces its legacy to the Department of Physical Education in 1930. It was the 1930 East Carolina Teachers College Planning Document number two priority.

This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the East Carolina University, its academics, athletics, grounds, people, history, and culture. This shall be done through the spirit of cooperation with the end goal of such editing being the production of articles of at least Good Article status, if not Featured Article quality.
The school was created in 1955 with the consolidation of Black Mountain High School and Swannanoa High School. It was named for prominent local textile tycoon and fashion designer Charles D. Owen. Black Mountain High School's mascot was the Dark Horses and Swannanoa high school's mascot was the Warriors, thus creating Owen High's mascot, the Warhorse.
