IDEA Public Schools, Inc (Individuals Dedicated to Excellence and Achievement Public Schools) is a not‐for‐profit charter school operator based in Weslaco, Texas. [1] It was formed in June 2000. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] In 2015 it served about 19,000 students in 36 schools, about 85% of whom were economically disadvantaged.

Weslaco High School is a four-year public secondary school the Weslaco Independent School District in Weslaco, Texas. It was founded in 1921, the same year that the school district was established after successful petitioning to separate from nearby city Donna and their district. [ 3 ]
In 2002, Weslaco East earned the TEA "Recognized School" rating for a Weslaco, Texas High School and for the two years after that. [3] Weslaco East then added an 11th grade class in the 2002-03 school year and a 12th grade class the following year. In the 2003-2004 school year, Weslaco East had its first class of graduating seniors. [4]
During the 2005-06 school year, The South Texas ISD Science Academy was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, [9] [10] the highest award an American school can receive.
