Ward County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 11,644. [1] The county seat is Monahans. [2] The county was created in 1887 and organized in 1892. [3] It is named for Thomas W. Ward, a soldier in the Texas Revolution.
Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District is a public school district based in Pecos, Texas, United States. In addition to Pecos, the district serves the town of Toyah in Reeves County and Barstow in western Ward County. At nearly 95 miles (153 km), FM 521 is one of the longest farm-to-market roads in Texas. FM 521 was designated on July 9, 1945, from SH 36 in Brazoria to SH 35 at Bailey's Prairie.
