The El Paso Public Library is a Carnegie library located at 149 West First Street in El Paso, Illinois, United States. The library building was built in 1906–07 to house the city's library, which originated in 1873. Architect Paul O. Moratz designed the building in the Richardsonian Romanesque style.

The El Paso Public Library is the longest continuously active public library system in Texas. [2] It was founded by Mary Irene Stanton, an El Paso area teacher. [3] Stanton "single-handedly becomes founder of the El Paso Public Library" when in 1894, she donated her personal collection of 1,000 books for a boy's Reading Club which was housed in a room in the Sheldon Building. The museum is operating an exhibit adjacent to historic 1857 locomotive No.1 of the El Paso & Southwestern located in the Union Plaza Transit Terminal, just south of the Civic Center. Displays demonstrate how transportation enhanced the development of business and industry in this region.
