In 1997 Yamaha introduced the Aerox to the European market. It came in two models, the 2-Stroke 50 cc [1] (Internally known as the YQ50) powered by the Minarelli MA-50 horizontal Liquid cooled engine with a front and rear disc brake (DD), this engine came restricted to 45 km/h from the factory to follow European law on 50 cc mopeds.

2-Stroke. This model sold as an "unrestricted" scooter, which could reach 75 km/h (47 mph) according to the technical specification. A 49cc "noped" (as it has no pedals unlike the PA50 Hobbit/Camino moped) which was manufactured from 1977 until 1983, it featured an air-cooled, oil-injected 2-stroke engine. The versions from 1977 to 1980 had a manual choke, points ignition, and a single speed transmission with a unique spring start system as opposed to a conventional kick start.
The engine in the Aprilia SX 50 is sourced from Derbi/Piaggio (D50B0/D50B1). This engine is used in the Derbi Senda DRD/X-Race/X-Treme supermotos and crossers, as well as the 2006 onwards Derbi GPR 50 and Aprilia RS 50 road bikes, although the road bikes feature an electric starter instead of a kickstarter on the supermotos.
