The Biennial Pavilion was part of the project to celebrate São Paulo's IV Centennial, with the inauguration of Ibirapuera Park and its group of buildings, which today form event spaces and important museums, such as the Oca and the Afro Brazil Museum. The plan was architected by the iconic Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in 1954.
