Zinc selenide is the inorganic compound with the formula ZnSe. It is a lemon-yellow solid although most samples have a duller color due to the effects of oxidation. It is an intrinsic semiconductor with a band gap of about 2.70 eV at 25 °C (77 °F), equivalent to a wavelength of 459 nm.
A compound semiconductor is a semiconductor compound composed of chemical elements of at least two different species. These semiconductors form for example in periodic table groups 13–15 (old groups III–V), for example of elements from the Boron group (old group III, boron, aluminium, gallium, indium) and from group 15 (old group V, nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth).
The South African postal code system was previously used in Namibia, then "South West Africa", including the enclave of Walvis Bay, which remained part of South Africa until 1994. It was allocated the number range 9000–9299. [6] Following independence, use of the South African postal code system was discontinued. [7]
ZnSe has a reasonably large Verdet constant (roughly 1 min. cm-1 G-1 at = nm) and was suggested for use in optical isolators, see Wunderlich J. A. and DeShazer L. G., Applied Optics 16 (6), 1584 (1977). Note that although the rare-earth orthoferrites have much higher Verdet constants, they are birefringent and aren't much good at producing ...
A selenide is a chemical compound containing a selenium with oxidation number of −2. Similar to sulfide , selenides occur both as inorganic compounds and as organic derivatives, which are called organoselenium compound .
This list of mines in South Africa is subsidiary to the list of mines article and lists working, defunct and future mines in the country and is organised by the primary mineral output. For practical purposes stone, marble and other quarries may be included in this list.
Selenide minerals are those minerals that have the selenide anion as a main component. Selenides are similar to sulfides and often grouped with them. [1] Examples include: achavalite Fe 1-x Se; athabascaite Cu 5 Se 4; clausthalite PbSe; ferroselite FeSe 2; penroseite (Ni,Co,Cu)Se 2; stilleite ZnSe; tiemannite HgSe; umangite Cu 3 Se 2
As coal is the main ingredient for the industrial process, Sasol Two had to be developed around a coalfield. The four coal mines, namely Brandspruit, Middelbult, Bosjesspruit, and Twistdraai, [6] form the largest underground coal mining complex in South Africa and annually supply approximately 37,3 million tons of coal to Sasol Synthetic Fuels ...
