Gooch was born to Thomas Gooch of Yarmouth, and educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, which he entered in 1691. He graduated B.A. in 1694 (M.A. 1698), B.D. in 1706 and D.D. in 1711. [1] [2] He became chaplain to Henry Compton, Bishop of London, and preached at his funeral in 1713.
Born in 1802, Gooch was the son of Sir Thomas Gooch, 5th Baronet and Marianne née Whittaker. He first married Louisa Anna Maria Prescott, daughter of Sir George Beeston Prescott, 2nd Baronet, in 1828, and they had at least two children: Florence Jane Charlotte Giva Gooch (died 1918) [3] [4] and Louisa Catherine Gooch (died 1848).
