In 1918, Metal Office Furniture ended its agreement with Macey and entered into a partnership with Terrell. By the 1920s, both companies were doing well, and in 1925 Metal Office Furniture began building a new plant for the production of desks and tables connected to the Terrell plant. The new building became Metal Office Furniture Plant No. 2.

In late 1885, local Grand Rapids businessmen Gaius Perkins, William T. Hess and Seymour W. Peregrine founded the Grand Rapids School Furniture Company to manufacture school and office furniture. They began manufacture in a small factory in 1886. Business boomed, and in 1887 they began constructing a new factory.
After the war, an attempt was made to convert back to furniture production, but the company was again forced to declare bankruptcy in 1948 and closing the factory for good. The Grand Ledge Chair Company was founded in 1837 as a small furniture shop by Thomas Garrett, Harry Jordan, and Edward Crawford. The three reorganized and incorporated in 1888, and sold the business to Edward H. Turnbull and George H. Fletcher in 1893. Turnbull soon bought out Fletcher, gaining complete control of the company.
