The nearest railway stations are Reigate, Kingswood Railway Station and Redhill Railway Station. Buses travel along the A217, north to Epsom and Sutton and south to Reigate and Redhill. Lower Kingswood is situated very close to Junction 8 of the M25. Bus Transport is not the best, buses end at 7:45 coming south from Redhill and Reigate.
The station was initially called Reigate Town. The station was operated by the SER until 1898, the South Eastern and Chatham Railway until 1922, the Southern Railway (UK) until 1947 and British Railways until 1997. The line between Redhill and Reigate was electrified on 1 January 1933 but the remainder remains unelectrified.

Train services and the station are operated by Southern. The station has a building on the up side only (platform 1), with just a metal shelter on the down side (platform 2). Part of the building is still used by Southern, with a large waiting area and ticket office on the ground floor, though this is only open during weekday morning peak travel.
1978 Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis express services diverted via Gatwick Airport, and the lines downgraded including the removal of the passing loops at Cheam. A peak hour service continues, stopping at Sutton and Dorking. 1984 Dorking and Sutton lose their peak hour 12-coach fast trains to London and the south coast.

Redhill and Reigate station c.1853. On 15 April 1844 the SER built a new station at the present site, named 'Redhill and Reigate' which was to be used by both railways as the interchange station. On the same day the two existing stations were closed. The branch line to Reigate was opened in 1849 with a new station called Reigate Town. [7]
