please help... I have the same problem as this threat "epson scan software opens too large for screen on windows 8.1 hp laptop". before this I use the scanner and it works well. but today, the screen is getting bigger. the event manager also get bigger. i had tried the solution given, but it seem that not working in windows 10.
I unistalled Epson Scan and other utilities and then installed the version listed as Windows 8.1 64 bits from the Epson site. That is 13936.exe, but didn't work either, just like 15918.exe. The message was "cannot communicate to the device".

Hi RW. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you. I would Clean Install the scanner which almost always works, lasts longer and actually saves time. Windows still needs the full feature software to properly run all the features of a printer/scanner, just a driver and/or the new apps are not mature enough to be fully reliable.
And button functionality to Windows "SCAN" function (selecting "Scan" from Events (tab) of scanner), and pressing the scanner button to activate scanner (not from Epson's Event Manager) still works ! Not sure how Windows 10 uses WIA, but Control Panel/Devices and Printers loads INSTANTLY when on. otherwise, I cannot tell what WIA does.

I recently did an HP and windows update and since then my Epson Artisan 837 Scan won't launch. The printing works fine and when I go to Epson Settings and run a test it communicates with the scanner, passes and shows it's connected to the network. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the scanner and the entire printer.
