The Syria national football team (Arabic: منتخب سُورِيَا لِكُرَّةُ الْقَدَم) represents Syria in international football, and is controlled by the Syrian Arab Federation for Football, the governing body for football in Syria.
Yakoub was named in the Syria senior national team squad for the postponed 2023 AFC Asian Cup in January 2024. [ 7 ] [ 8 ] He made his full international debut for Syria in the tournament, as a substitute in a 1–0 loss against Australia on 18 January 2024.

The academy won the 2007–08 Syrian under-18 league, [4] with Al Somah emerging as the top scorer of the season with 29 goals.
