The college initially offered a three-year teaching diploma in Home Economics. This three year course continued until 1978 when a four year university degree course was introduced, with the first students graduating in 1981 with NUI degrees. In 1997, the Food Technology Centre was established, with nursing degree programmes commencing in 2002. [3]
Some also require a pass grade in a modern continental European language (French, German, Spanish or Italian). Each individual course has further entry requirements, for example, science courses usually require a certain grade in one or two sciences. The student must also achieve the number of points required for the course under the points system.
It offers undergraduate courses in design, contemporary arts, film & documentary, textiles and fine art. In 2016, it introduced post-graduate courses in Creative Practice to support artists, designers and filmmakers. The annual graduate exhibitions and screenings showcase the work being produced throughout the academic year.
