The Cathedral of the Madeleine is a Roman Catholic church in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It was completed in 1909 and is the cathedral, or mother church, of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. It is the only cathedral in the U.S. under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene.
On August 6, 1937, Hunt was appointed the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City by Pope Pius XI. [3] He received his episcopal consecration on October 28, 1937, from Archbishop John Mitty, with Bishops Robert Armstrong and Thomas Gorman serving as co-consecrators. [3] Hunt was the first Methodist convert to become a Catholic bishop. [1]
