Every soldier first completes Basic Training, also known as Phase One Training. Adult Entry soldiers complete a 14-week course at Army Training Regiment at Winchester or at the Army Training Centre Pirbright, in Surrey. The Royal School of Military Survey (RSMS) originates from 1833 when it was established at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich as a survey training branch.
