"Dead Flowers" was performed live during the album tours for Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. in 1970–72, then once during the Black and Blue Tour in 1976. It was not played again until the Steel Wheels Tour in 1989. Live performances of the song from 1995 can be found on the Stones' album Stripped and its 2016 edition Totally Stripped.
The Free Lance-Star gave the album a positive review, while Allmusic gave it a four and a half stars out of five rating, with reviewer Jo-Ann Greene calling it "a stomping mix of rabid punk and pub-crunching singalongs" and "the best yet from the band".

The Fat Club is a series of twelve 7-inch singles released monthly by Fat Wreck Chords from March 2001 to February 2002. 1,300 of each single were pressed; They were not available for sale individually, but were distributed by postal service to those who purchased a subscription to the series.
