The village center is located on the east shore of Pistakee Lake, and south shore of Nippersink Lake and Fox Lake, three connected water bodies that form part of the Chain O'Lakes system, flowing southwest via the Fox River to the Illinois River. The village limits extend north in a sinuous manner all the way to the Wisconsin border.

Fox River Grove (FRG) is a village in Algonquin Township, McHenry County and Cuba Township, Lake County, Illinois, United States. As per 2020 census , the population was 4,702. [ 2 ] In 1919, the village of Fox River Grove was officially incorporated, becoming the ninth village in McHenry County.
Forest Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Ela Township of Lake County, Illinois, United States. It is about 35 miles (56 km) northwest of downtown Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,784. [2] The community was founded in 1935 as a vacation community for Chicago residents.
It is bordered to the south by the city of Bridgeton, the county seat. It is bordered to the east by Laurel Heights, to the north by Silver Lake, and to the west by Sunset Lake, an impoundment on the Cohansey River. Across the lake is Hopewell Township. Sunset Lake was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. [4]
