Loma Linda University Children's Hospital is the sole children's hospital for almost 1.3 million of California's youth (San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo, and Mono Counties). The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 [ 2 ] throughout the region.
The trust was established as the Basildon and Thurrock General Hospitals NHS Trust on 1 November 1991, and became operational on 1 April 1992. It changed its name to the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust on 18 October 2002. [5] [6]
It was named by the Health Service Journal as one of the top hundred NHS trusts to work for in 2015. At that time it had 868 full-time equivalent staff and a sickness absence rate of 3.38%. 72% of staff recommend it as a place for treatment and 61% recommended it as a place to work.
