The original Arnott's logo depicted a multi-coloured parrot sitting atop a T-shaped perch, eating a cracker biscuit. During a radio interview on ABC, William Arnott's great-great-great-grandson stated that the logo represents the proverb "Honesty is the best policy" where the phrase was constructed from "On his T, is the best pol' (polly) I see".
Arnott decided to try his luck gold mining in 1851, and left for the Turon River diggings alone. [5] He was not successful; he failed to find any gold and eventually returned to life as a baker. Brockhoff Biscuits was an Australian manufacturer of biscuits founded in 1860 by Adolf F. Brockhoff. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] In 1963 Arnott's Biscuits and the company merged, although they continued to trade under both names for several years until the "Brockhoff" name was completely dropped in the late 1970s.
