South African National Parks (SANParks) is the body responsible for managing South Africa's national parks. SANParks was formed in 1926, and currently manages 19 parks consisting of 3,751,113 hectares (37,511.13 km 2), [3] over 3% of the total area of South Africa. [4] [a] Many parks offer a variety of accommodations.
As the name suggests, it is at the mouth of the Orange River, which forms the border between South Africa and Namibia. The town of Alexander Bay is located 5 km (3.1 mi) away opposite the river on the South African side and is linked to Oranjemund by the Ernest Oppenheimer Bridge.
Caprivi Strip.. The Mahango Game Park (also known as the Mahango Game Reserve [1]) is a protected area in Namibia within Bwabwata National Park. [2] It is situated at the country's eastern border with Botswana in the flood plains of the Okavango River basin, close to the Popa Falls on the river.
It was created by merging Namibia's Caprivi Game Park and Mahango Game Park. [2] It is situated in the Zambezi and Kavango East regions, extending along the Caprivi Strip. It is bounded by the Okavango River to the west and the Kwando River to the east. Angola lies to the north and Botswana to the south.
It operates camps and mobile safaris across seven countries: Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. [3] [4] Known for its ongoing conservation work, the company is helping to conserve some 33 species on the IUCN Red List [5] and lists some 2.5 million hectares as being under protection.
