The Master of Puppets demos were recorded on July 14, 1985, and are essentially a rehearsal more than a demo. The demos include five songs that were included on the band's third studio album, Master of Puppets (1986).
Master of Puppets was the band's commercial breakthrough release, [14] and Burton's final album with Metallica. Burton's final performance was in Stockholm, Sweden, at the Solnahallen Arena on September 26, 1986, one day before his death. [15]
