The Book of Kells (Latin: Codex Cenannensis; Irish: Leabhar Cheanannais; Dublin, Trinity College Library, MS A. I. [58], sometimes known as the Book of Columba) is an illustrated manuscript and Celtic Gospel book in Latin, [1] containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables.
The Book of Kells is located in the Old Library, along with the Book of Durrow, the Garland of Howth and other ancient texts. Also incorporating the Long Room, the Old Library is one of Ireland's biggest tourist attractions and holds thousands of rare, and in many cases very early, volumes.
The Printing House is a classical Palladian style temple building that was constructed within the campus of Trinity College Dublin around 1734 under the tenure of provost Richard Baldwin. The building housed the Dublin University Press from its opening until 1976.
Visitors have been unable to access the historic Book of Kells since the action began on Friday evening when the activists set up tents inside the campus of the prestigious Dublin university.

The Abbey of Kells (Irish: Mainistir Cheanannais) or Kells Priory is a former monastery in Kells, County Meath, Ireland, 59 kilometres (37 mi) north-west of Dublin.It was founded in the early 9th century, and the Book of Kells was kept there during the later medieval and early modern periods before finally leaving the abbey in the 1650s.
