Seasons in the Sun is an English-language adaptation of the 1961 Belgian song Le Moribond ("The Dying Man") by singer-songwriter Jacques Brel, [2] with lyrics rewritten in 1963 by singer-poet Rod McKuen, [3] depicting a dying man's farewell to his loved ones.
Seasons in the Sun is the debut studio album by Canadian musician Terry Jacks, released in 1974 by Bell Records. It features Jacks' biggest hit song, " Seasons in the Sun ", which reached No. 1 in over 12 countries.
Terrence Ross Jacks (born March 29, 1944) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer known for his 1974 hit song "Seasons in the Sun", an English adaptation of a song written by Belgian composer and singer Jacques Brel in 1961. Jacks is also an environmental activist, focused on pulp mill emissions in Howe Sound.
McKuen began to translate the work of this composer into English, which led to the song "If You Go Away" – an international pop-standard – based on Brel's "Ne me quitte pas". McKuen translated Brel's song "Le Moribond" loosely into "Seasons in the Sun", and British folkbeat group The Fortunes charted with the song in the Netherlands in 1969.

The album was released on 4 April 2000 with an altered track listing that included the new song, "My Private Movie". [ 6 ] A documentary video album related to the release, entitled "The Westlife Story", was released in October 2000, peaking at number 15 on the UK Visual Chart.
They reunited with Talmy for their next release, "The Idol", a song they had written themselves, and although it did get some airplay in the UK, it did not become a hit. Around this time they released a version of 'Seasons in the Sun' which also failed to chart. The Fortunes also recorded an advertisement for Coca-Cola in the United States. [5]
