ADMIN. Genuinely curious why some people don't like musicals. It seems like whenever La La Land, The Greatest Showman, or some other popular movie musical comes up on this sub, people are quick to modify their opinion with "I'm usually not into musicals, but...". As someone who grew up on musicals and whose list of favorite movies is heavily ...
Once (I love this but it feels more like a play with songs in it than a musical since the songs don't advance the plot or tell a story) ALW's The Phantom of the Opera (watched it when I was 10 and it's what got me into musicals) The Pirate Queen (beautiful score and the actors are fantastic, but the plot is a mess) 2.
Come from away; I just saw it and the pit had like 7 musicians…. Waitress and Six as well, but they're also likely unavailable since they're active musicals. A New Brain can be done with a small pit. Pippin (I think) can be done with a small pit. Hair can be done with a small band + a horn section.

Notre-Dame de Paris (including versions with English subtitles) Les Misérables 10th anniversary concert. Oklahoma (college, not Broadway, but I liked it better than the Broadway one with Hugh Jackman) BroadwayHD has a lot of proshots, as someone else mentioned.
For more of a classical score, look into Light in the Piazza, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and A Little Night Music for a little bit more of a classical score. If you want a classical comedy, DEFINITELY listen to Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. It’s brilliant.
