Harvey County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat and most populous city is Newton . [ 3 ] As of the 2020 census , the county population was 34,024. [ 1 ]
In 1867, Sedgwick County was founded. In 1872, Harvey County was founded. Sedgwick was laid out on an 80-acre (32 ha) town site in 1870. [4] It was named for John Sedgwick, a major general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. [5] Sedgwick was incorporated as a city in 1872. [6]
